Meet Suzanne

Hey!
I’m Suzanne and I am a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist based in Charlotte, North Carolina. I received my Master of Science in Nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I also completed my Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) training. This was followed by a 1,000+ hour supervised Dietetic Internship through Winthrop University. My Bachelor of Arts degree is in Spanish, so if you need bilingual services, I am your gal!
Since earning my Registered Dietitian Credential, I have worked in clinical and acute care as well as outpatient weight management. Needless to say, I have had a wide range of experiences in the nutrition field. However, there is nothing I am more passionate about than helping others support hormonal and gut health through nutrition and lifestyle changes!
This is because a few years ago, my health took a turn for the worse. My hypothyroid symptoms became unmanageable despite being on a therapeutic dosage of thyroid replacement hormones. Fatigue and digestive distress ruled my days to the point where I would come home after work and nap on the couch until it was time to go to bed. Lab work run by my primary care physician and endocrinologist showed no glaring issues. Frustrated with a lack of answers, I began working with a functional medicine physician who inspired me to begin my own training in integrative and functional nutrition via the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy. I have learned so much from both my training and work with this physician that I am happy to say that I am well on my way to feeling like myself again.
I like to think that everything happens for a reason and that my health struggles have not been in vain. Learning to see the silver linings has helped me change my mindset around chronic illness and the body’s amazing resilience and capacity to heal. I have learned a lot during the process of putting myself back together – things that have uniquely prepared me to work with individuals who have gone through similar health struggles that have left them with confusing and frustrating symptoms.
Does my story sound familiar? Are you going through your own health issues and want a partner who has walked in your shoes? Let’s talk!

What's in a name?
In order to achieve optimal health, we need to consider that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Like a symphony, each cell, organ, and system has its role to play in the overall performance. When they all work together in a well-balanced manner, our bodies are able to achieve their own harmony.
While my primary focus is on hormonal and gut problems, as these two frequently overlap, I don’t discount the role that any piece of our beings, be it physical, mental, or emotional/spiritual, plays in our overall health and wellbeing. Food and the way that we nourish our bodies play a huge role in our overall health (or lack thereof). My approach to nutrition is holistic.
Registered Dietitian is a title earned after a rigorous course of study, including coursework in not only food & nutrition, but also counseling, biology, physiology, organic chemistry, and biochemistry – yes, we take many of the same courses as pre-medicine majors. This is followed by a year long internship that encompasses 1000+ hours of supervised practice and the completion of a registration exam. Dietitians are the nutrition experts, and the title of Registered Dietitian is one that I do not take lightly. My passion lies in helping others determine the ways in which foods and nutrients best nourish their bodies.
My Goal
Chronic illness is no fun. Even worse, is feeling like no one listens to you or understands you. I’ve walked many miles in those shoes before. I can be your partner on your journey back to health and wellness.
My goal for you is to feel like yourself again DESPITE that chronic illness. Together, we will tackle your symptoms of hormonal imbalances and gut issues by using nourishing foods and lifestyle changes that have been shown to make a huge impact on how you feel and how your body functions.
Don’t waste any more time living less than your best life. Let’s get you back to feeling like YOU again.
